Add On Programs
At the beginning of the session, campers choose their own activities, including Swimming, Archery, Arts & Crafts, Canoeing, Drama, and more! We offer four add-on activities which allow campers to experience activities that require more time and specialized instruction. Activity Add-ons include the following activities: Sailing, Horseback Riding, Water-skiing, and Climbing Wall. We also offer trips and other experiences as add-on programs. These include day trips, overnight trips, trail rides, and Stayover Camp. All Add-On programs are available at an additional cost, and the camper must be registered before camp begins. You can register your camper for these programs the same way you would register for a regular AGQ session during Add-On Registration.
Due to the popularity of concentration programs, campers will only be eligible to sign up for one pre-registered Add-on activity per week for their time at AGQ. We want to ensure that as many campers as possible can experience an add-on program, while also preserving the benefit of camper-elected activities for hours where they are not in their concentration. This way, campers can gain independence and spend time in hours with friends and cabin-mates.
Please note that caregivers are not required to sign their camper up for an add-on activity. These are recommended for campers who are interested in enhancing their skills in these areas since each will run for two periods, rather than the standard one period. They will have the choice to choose from a variety of activities at camp that do not cost extra. They will also have the opportunity to go to the climbing wall with their cabin group at some point throughout their session.
Horseback Riding
Campers will receive half-day instruction in horseback riding and horsemanship from our barn staff. Campers will learn basic skills such as proper horse safety, full grooming, hoof picking, bridling and saddling. They will receive proper western riding instruction, including reining, walking, trotting, proper spacing, corral work and more. Horseback riding is offered for one-week sessions and for one or two weeks during two-week sessions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the difference between one and two week activities?
If your camper is enrolled in a two-week core session (Sessions 2, 3, or 4) you have the option to enroll your camper in a one or two week add-on. One week means your camper will do the activity for one of the two weeks of the session, although it may be either week, depending on scheduling. Two weeks is for camper looking more of a challenge and chance to grow. They will participate in a two-week curriculum over the course of their entire session at camp.
My camper is enrolled in an LIT core session- what can they sign up for?
Leader-In-Training (LIT) is the capstone camper program at Camp AGQ, and your camper will spend their afternoon activity hours participating in special LIT activities. Our Sailing, Climbing Concentration, and 2-week horseback riding run in the afternoon so LITs are not eligible for those programs. LITs are also not eligible for overnight trips although they will participate in the LIT overnight as a part of the program.
Can I receive a scholarship for add-on activities?
Yes! We will provide a scholarship for up to two weeks of add-on activities.
